THIS IS A LETTER WE RECEIVED FROM AN ANONYMOUS CUSTOMER Dear Edison's pub,I first began to patronize your fine establishment in 1963 (year of the dog), a mere 57 years after the death of Thomas Alva, god light his soul, and you've been lighting up my life eversince. I remember the ribbon cutting ceremony when the Steelyard boys lined up from Professor to W 3rd, to drink Schlitz for 25 cents a mug, and Disco Wednesdays that ran through the 70's. I, Edisons, Boogie woogied down to the BeeGees and did the hustle across your barroom floor, down the stairs and too the ladies room where I subsequently lost my virginity to disco queen Mahoghany Foxx. It was then I sired my only child, a girl we named Edisons. you have been good to me Edisons, but I have not been so good toyou, there are some things I must admit. 10 years ago I stole the rococoesque painting from above your bar, only to return it the next morning as dawn was flirting with the horizon. and two summers ago it was I who killed the koi fish in your "pond" for this I am unabasheldy apologetic. you have remained unchanged through the ebb and flow of the contemporary era. You have been my rock, my lover, my family, andmy one true friend. As it often iss with good friends, I did not wax reminiscent for nothing. It is time for me Thaddeus O'hara to ride that novelty bicycle with the oversized front wheel tothe plains of north Dakota where I will heard Buffallo like my pappy and grand pappy once did god reast their souls. There, I will return to the earth, andmy collected memories will soar into the western wind and "Edisons" will be the last word on a dead man's tongue. Yours erroniously, Thaddeus Z.
